Theatrical Documentary Program
English-language production component
Telefilm Canada, CBC Television and the Rogers Group of Funds are delighted
to announce five feature-length documentary proposals have been short listed
to receive production funds; two of the five projects will be selected for financing.
Telefilm, CBC and Rogers partnered on this pilot program in early spring 2005,
and twenty-three interesting proposals were received nationally at the November
1, 2005 deadline.
The successful selected projects are intended for first-run Canadian theatrical
releases, which will be promoted on CBC Television. Following the theatrical
run, the projects will have a premiere broadcast on CBC Television.
The next step in the process will provide the five finalists with the opportunity
in early February 2006 to meet with the decision panel comprised of Robin
Mirsky-Daniels (Rogers), Jerry McIntosh (CBC), Ralph Holt (Telefilm) and
Michael Kennedy (Cineplex Entertainment), to further present their proposals.
Two documentary films will then be selected to receive $625,000 each
for the production of their feature-length documentary. The final decisions
will be announced shortly thereafter.
