Industry advisory – Canada Feature Film Fund
Writer’s First
The English-language component of the Screenwriting Assistance Program has been
renamed Writer's First. The name of the French-language component remains
unchanged, Programme d'aide à l'écriture de scénarios
(PAES).

2006-2007 guidelines available on Telefilm Canada's website
Highlights of changes for 2006-2007
- There have been significant changes to the eligibility criteria. (See sections
3 and 4 of the guidelines);
- There remain two phases for Writer's First, but they have been changed
to: Outline to 1st Draft and Treatment to 1st Draft;
- The selection process will no longer be administered by a jury; decisions
for Writer's First will be made internally by Telefilm Canada staff;
- There are no longer any deadlines for Writer's First. Telefilm will
begin accepting English-language applications for fiscal 2006-2007 as of Monday,
May 15, 2006; and
- A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document relating to the 2006-2007
Writer's First guidelines will be available shortly.
