Canada Feature Film Fund 2007-2008
Writer’s First Program and Programme d’aide à l’écriture de scénarios

Montreal, April 20, 2007 – Telefilm Canada wishes to remind the industry that the guidelines for the Writer’s First Program were modified in October 2006, further to consultation with the Canada Feature Film Fund Working Group. The changes are designed to align the Program more closely with the From Script to Screen policy objectives and industry needs by chiefly focusing resources on promising screenwriters.

For the Programme d'aide à l'écriture de scénarios (French-language projects), changes are minor.

Writer’s First (English-language projects)

  1. As announced in our October 19, 2006, industry advisory, Writer’s First now includes only two phases: Outline to Treatment and Treatment to First Draft. The Outline to First Draft phase available to applicants in 2006-2007 has been eliminated, and the assistance amounts have been adjusted accordingly.

  2. Also as previously announced, in order to qualify for Writer’s First, applicants must have writing credits for works produced within the last seven years.

  3. There are no application deadlines for Writer’s First, except for English-language projects from the Quebec region: May 14, 2007.

Programme d'aide à l'écriture de scénarios (French-language projects)

  1. Applicants must submit all required application material. Only applications meeting the minimum requirements by the deadline will be evaluated. Please note that all creative materials must now be submitted in five (5) copies, in the prescribed format.

  2. A single application deadline has been established for projects in French: May 7, 2007.

Guidelines and application forms are available on Telefilm Canada's website:
