CALL FOR ENTRIES

(Feature and Short films: fiction, animation and documentary) 

Telefilm Canada is currently accepting Canadian feature-length fiction, animation and documentary films for the Official Competition and the Documentary, Animation, Asian Talent and Panorama International sections of the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival.   


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Fiction, animation and documentary films that meet the following criteria are eligible:   

  • Completed in its country of origin after April 1, 2025    
  • Screener Format: Vimeo link  
  • Language: English or with English subtitles  

Priority given to world, international premiere

 


SUBMISSION PROCESS

Complete Telefilm’s application form before March 18, 2025  


SCRENNING & SELECTION PROCESS

Films submitted to Telefilm Canada for this pre-selection and that meet the selection criteria will be sent to the festival. The programming committee will screen the films remotely. 

  • Register via Telefilm Canada by March 18, 2026
  • Submit your screener link by March 30, 2026

  • This Call for Entries will be submitted through Dialogue Events
  • Please consult the User Guide to submit your application

ABOUT

Founded in 1993, the Shanghai International Film Festival is recognized by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association) as one of the thirteen so-called A-Festivals (competitive feature films festivals) from around the world.  

The festival presents around 390 films and draws in an audience of approximately 300,000. Canadian films are presented in its Official Competition and International Panorama, which includes several national spotlights and retrospectives.  

1st and 2nd films by Asian directors are also eligible for the Asian New Talent section.    

Telefilm Canada recognizes selection of a feature film in the Festival for applications to its International Promotion Program.
