62nd Valladolid International Film Festival

(Feature-length films, documentaries and shorts)

 The Valladolid International Film Festival is currently accepting entries for its 2017 edition.

 Please note that all films must be submitted directly to the festival.

Eligibility

All films submitted to the festival must comply with the following conditions:

  • Produced after October 2016 with no previous commercial, online, DVD, or TV screening in Spain;
  • Have not screened at any other film festival in Spain;
  • Films over 60 minutes are considered feature-lengths, and shorts films must not exceed 30 minutes.

As one of Europe’s oldest festivals, Valladolid has always been characterized by its willingness to take risks and to innovate in its programming. The international sections are: the Official, Meeting Point and Time of history. The festival grants cash awards for feature length and short films of a total value of around 100 000 € in the different categories:

  • Official Golden Spike and Silver Spike feature-film Awards : 60,000 € and 20 000 € respectively for the Spanish distributor.
  • Best New Director – First or second feature-length film. The filmmaker receives a cash award of 10,000€.
  • Meeting Point Best Feature: 15,000 €.
  • Official Golden Spike and Silver Spike short-film Awards : 6,000 € and 3,000 € respectively for the filmmaker.
  • Point Best Foreign Short: 3,000 €.
  • Best Documentary Awards: a first prize of 20,000 € and a 2nd prize of 10,000 are destined to filmmakers.

Telefilm Canada recognizes selection in the Valladolid International Film Festival as part of its Success Index and for application to its International Marketing Programme.
