6th Venice Biennale College – Cinema

Venice, Italy, July 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018

The Biennale College – Cinema in Venice is currently accepting entries for its 2017-2018 workshop program open to emerging director and producer teams.

Information and registration procedure

Organized by the Biennale di Venezia, the goal of Biennale College – Cinema is to bring to completion – at the end of a year-long series of activities that covers the entire spectrum of ideation, development, production, direction, audience engagement and distribution of a film – up to three feature-length micro-budget films (€ 150,000), which will subsequently be screened at the 2018 Venice Film Festival.

Biennale College – Cinema applications are open to teams formed by one director at their debut and one producer who has completed 3 audiovisual products or at least one feature film or documentary.

Biennale College will announce the selection at the end of August 2017 and will contact each successful applicant individually.

First Phase in October 2017

The Biennale College is committed to working with the teams on the development of the 12 selected projects by organizing a 10-day workshop.

After the first workshop in Venice, the 12 teams will deliver a first draft script and updated production documents by mid-November 2017.

The festival Director will then select three projects and their teams will be invited to attend the 2nd and 3rd workshops.

Second Phase – December 2017

The second workshop focuses on script development and will be held in Venice.

Third Phase – January 2018

The last workshop will focus on the preproduction. Each team will receive 150,000 euros and over a seven-month period they will proceed to shoot and edit the feature-length audio-visual works.
