Call for entries

(Features and shorts, fiction and documentary)

 Telefilm Canada is currently accepting Canadian FEATURE FILMS entries (narratives and documentaries) on behalf of the Locarno Film Festival for the Montréal selection screenings to be held between April 3 to 5 2017.

 The festival programs also medium-length and short films, but they must be submitted directly to the festival.

 Entry fees are waived for Canadian feature-length films submitted for the selection screenings via Telefilm Canada.

Information and registration process

The Locarno Film Festival is renowned for its varied program focused on the discovery, new trends and passion for auteur cinema. The festival presents 12 sections, 3 competitions and 25 cash awards.  A “F.I.A.P.F.” leading competitive festival, Locarno Festival is recognized as one of the major showcase in Europe and a convivial networking event for distributors, buyers, producers’ filmmakers and journalists. Over 160,000 viewers, 3,000 accredited professionals and 900 journalists attend the festival.

The Locarno Film Festival has programmed an important number of Canadian films in every edition and has helped launched the careers of filmmakers over the years. Canadian filmmakers who had features selected in recent years: Denis Côté, Peter Mettler, Bernard Émond, Philippe Falardeau, Kazik Radwanski, Daniel Cockburn, Louise Archambault, Matthew Johnson, Igor Drljaca and Anne Émond.
