2013 Cannes Film Festival

Montreal, April 22, 2013 – Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce that the new film from Sébastien Pilote, Le Démantèlement, will be shown as part of the International Critics’ Week (Semaine de la Critique), a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival selection. The goal of the International Critics’ Week is to explore film creation by young directors from around the world.

This is the third time that Canadian cinema has made the news at Cannes this year. Chloé Robichaud’s first feature film, Sarah préfère la course, will be presented in the Un certain regard section of the official selection. In addition, the short film Going South from Saskatchewan’s Jefferson Moneo is one of 18 Cinéfondation films.

Le Démantèlement is the second feature from Sébastien Pilote. His first, Le Vendeur, produced in 2011, enjoyed international acclaim. Presented in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, it won the FIPRESCI Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival and the International Critics Award at the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival.

Produced by Corporation ACPAV and distributed in Quebec by Les Films Séville/Entertainment One, Le Démantèlement features Gabriel Arcand, Gilles Renaud, Lucie Laurier, Johanne-Marie Tremblay, Sophie Desmarais and Dominique Leduc.

Directors such as Denys Arcand, Bernardo Bertolucci, Alain Tanner, Amos Gitai and Guillermo Del Toro were discovered at the International Critics’ Week.
