Six Canadian films invited to Miami International Film Festival

Montreal, February 21, 2013 – Telefilm Canada is proud to announce that Canadian cinema will be in the spotlight at the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), running March 1-10, 2013.

MIFF will host the world premiere of The Boy Who Smells Like Fish (director Analeine Cal Y Mayor), produced by Rhombus Media, a majority Canadian coproduction with Mexico.

L’Affaire Dumont, directed by Daniel Grou (Podz) and produced by Nicole Robert of Go Films, will screen in its international premiere.

Also in the lineup are Camion (Rafaël Ouellet), Laurence Anyways (Xavier Dolan), Still Mine (Michael McGowan) and the short film Edmond était un âne (Franck Dion).

The trailers for the six films are available on this Website, specially developed to promote the films to international buyers.

This is the first partnership between Telefilm and MIFF, which showcases Latin American films. The objective is to promote and raise the visibility of Canadian talent and products on the American market, especially in the Latin American industry.

Miami is a major center in culture, media, entertainment and the arts. Nicknamed the “Capital of Latin America,” it is the second-largest US city with a Spanish-speaking majority (after El Paso, Texas) and the largest city with a Cuban-American plurality.
