Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Group of Funds renew the Theatrical Documentary Program for 2015-2016

Montreal, October 1, 2015Telefilm Canada and the Rogers Group of Funds are pleased to announce the extension of their partnership and the opening of the Theatrical Documentary Program for 2015-2016.


Telefilm and the Rogers Group of Funds have once again joined forces to underwrite the Program with the intent to co-finance films that can reach and engage audiences theatrically, and on other ancillary platforms.


Canadian documentaries capture a unique perspective on social, cultural, economic and political issues. They tell stories that are specific and personal yet universally relevant. By renewing this public-private partnership, Telefilm and the Rogers Group of Funds aim to encourage the success and ensure the future of Canadian non-fiction storytelling.


In 2016, the two partners will review the Program with an eye on improving its effectiveness in reaching audiences in cinemas and other platforms.


Over the last 10 years, Telefilm through its various programs, has supported more than 160 documentaries.


Applications may be submitted as of October 1, 2015 using this application form. The program deadline is October 23, 2015 for both English- and French-language projects.

Notable changes include that the Rogers Group of Funds, in addition to offering production support, will also now be open to supporting post production.
