22 June 2016

The Committee will select the film to represent Canada for consideration as a possible nominee in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 89th Academy Awards

Montreal, June 22, 2016—Telefilm Canada invites producers to submit their feature films to the pan-Canadian selection committee for a chance to represent Canada for consideration as a possible nominee in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 2016 Oscars. The committee will make a decision in September and announce the results by October 1, 2016.

Telefilm coordinates and chairs the pan-Canadian selection committee but does not have a vote. The committee comprises some 20 voting members representing major government agencies and national film industry associations.
