Telefilm Canada releases new and updated guidelines for audiovisual coproduction treaties

02 April 2015

Montreal, April 2, 2015 – Telefilm Canada is announcing the publication of new guidelines applicable to audiovisual coproduction treaties that have entered into force as of July 1, 2014, as well as the update of the guidelines applicable for treaties that have entered into force before July 1, 2014.

Guidelines for coproduction treaties that have entered into force as of July 1, 2014
These guidelines follow the implementation of Canada’s Policy on Audiovisual Treaty Coproduction by the Department of Canadian Heritage in February 2011. The objective of this policy is to position Canada as an audiovisual coproduction partner of choice.

These guidelines will notably apply to the audiovisual coproduction treaty signed with India, with the exception of the requirements relating to the creative and technical contribution of the producers. For further details on the guidelines applicable to the treaty with India, please consult the summary of the treaty here: https://telefilm.ca/en/coproductions/coproductions/agreements.

Guidelines for coproduction treaties that have entered into force before July 1, 2014
The guidelines for audiovisual coproduction treaties that have entered into force before July 1, 2014 were updated in order to clarify the vocabulary, requirements and processes.

Several documents such as the FAQ section, the list of documents required at the preliminary and final recommendation stages, the list of non-creative personnel authorized when shooting in a non-coproducing country and the sworn affidavits, were therefore updated on our website.
