The Canadian audiovisual industry: We mean business

Transforming a film, TV or new media idea into reality demands a dedicated team working relentlessly in the wings. Who are these businesses that create distinctly Canadian audiovisual content? How do they contribute to the Canadian economy and to the dissemination of our culture and our brand image abroad? Why should we support them?

As outlined in its corporate plan, Fostering Cultural Success, Telefilm Canada is encouraging the industry to diversify its funding sources, most notably from the private sector. In order to facilitate these new funding partnerships, Canadian producers, broadcasters and distributors need to work together to ensure that Canadian content is properly showcased, viewed and sold.

Halifax Chamber of Commerce

The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest Chambers amongst mid-sized Canadian cities and considered one of the leading chambers in North America. As the voice of business in Halifax, the Chamber advocates on behalf of over 1500 members and the 90,000 men and women they employ. With over 100 networking and educational events each year, an impressive benefit package and the strongest voice for business in Halifax, the Halifax Chamber of Commerce stands alone as Halifax’s premiere business organization.
