Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Information Technology, the Director, Infrastructure and Operations is responsible for overall management of IT operations and contributes to the strategy, ongoing development, deployment, and maintenance of Telefilm’s information systems. Through their experience, knowledge, and vision, the Director builds an effective and efficient infrastructure and operations function, contributes to its strategy, and sustains its high-value mode of operation, products and services available, and human resources. To these ends, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing conceptual frameworks and recognized best practices such as ITIL, COBIT, TOGAF, and NIST/ITSG-33 to attain and maintain the degree of maturity and security, and the high-performance work environment, that an organization such as Telefilm Canada requires.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure installation, maintenance, availability, optimization, security, and integrity of Telefilm information systems (applications and networks) in a cloud environment.
  • Develop and control the IT budget.
  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities and manage operations via dashboards and key performance indicators.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability inherent in IT infrastructure activities and operations.
  • Develop and maintain IT methods and practices at their appropriate level of maturity.
  • Manage, maintain, and develop, on an ongoing basis, a workforce with the appropriate knowledge, technical skills, and competencies to meet Telefilm Canada’s objectives.
  • Manage outsourced contracts with suppliers in a cloud environment.
  • Implement and maintain security frameworks, including an information systems security certification program.
  • Take part in, and contribute to, the development of the IT master plan, and effectively manage onboarding of new projects in the existing IT environment.
  • Plan integration of new technology and deliver high-performing, reliable, secure and well-integrated systems through policies, procedures, and best practices based on recognized standards, including ITIL, COBIT, TOGAF, and NIST/ITSG-33.
  • Assume responsibility for concepts, benchmarks, tools, and specific training required to guarantee security of IT systems (and data) in response to real or potential cybersecurity threats.
  • Manage introduction and optimization of available apps and technology for use in the Telefilm organization.
  • Manage activities and resources to support internal and external clients, and determine appropriate levels of service.
  • Monitor IT technology market trends to assess potential impact on business processes or solutions currently in use.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant discipline or any other combination of equivalent and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a team management position.
  • Detailed knowledge of tools, apps, and suppliers in a cloud environment.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, and TOGAF best practices benchmarks and Government of Canada  NIST/ITSG-33 security risk-management approach.
  • Experience in staff development, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Proven contributions to an IT master plan and ability to execute a strategic plan.
  • Outstanding communication skills in both official languages (CBC level).
  • Significant ability to manage teams and projects, tolerance for ambiguity, problem-solving skills, and talent for process development to high standards will all be considered.
  • Ability to manage several major projects at the same time.
  • Willingness, based on experience, to “pitch in” and deliver.

*Telefilm’s flexible work policy requires employees to work from the office once a month. For the rest of the time, you have the choice of working from home or from one of the above-mentioned offices.
