You must be representing a production company, be interested in international co-production (with no previous experience), and have a project ready for the 2026 Berlinale Co-Production Market.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"eligibility-criteria-for-applicants-and-projects\">ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS AND PROJECTS <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To be eligible, an applicant must meet all the following criteria:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>be a Canadian controlled corporation, as determined under sections 26 to 28 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/I-21.8\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Investment Canada Act<\/strong><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>be represented during the initiative by a producer that is a Canadian citizen within the definition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/c-29\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Citizenship Act<\/strong><\/a> or a permanent resident within the definition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/laws.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/i-2.5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Immigration and Refugee Protection Act<\/strong><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have its head office in Canada and carry out its activities in Canada.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>operate as an audiovisual production company.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have produced at least one feature film released theatrically, on a platform, or in a festival.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have at least one feature-length film project in development suitable for international co-production.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have an interest for international co-production but no previous experience as lead producer on an official completed international co-production.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be planning to attend the Berlinale and available to participate in the Co-Production Market events from February 14 to 17, 2026.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>* The ISO is offering Travel Funding to support Indigenous screen-based creatives for activities that require travel including festival and market attendance. Indigenous producers selected through this initiative will be eligible to apply for a grant of up to $4,500 to cover travel expenses.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To learn more: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/iso-bea.ca\/funding-opportunities\/travel-program-2025-26\/#program-eligibility-\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Travel Program &#8211; ISO-BEA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>**Telefilm Canada does not offer travel support to take part in this initiative. This will take place online prior to the market&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visitors\u2019 Get Together&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An informal catch-up and physical get-together onsite&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introductory session on Berlinale Co-Production Market and hands-on talk with an experienced participant. (online, prior to the market)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Option of individual consultations with experts on various topics (limited slots available. TBC online and\/or on site)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speed Matchings to meet other participants of the Co-Production Market&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Panels, i.e. case studies on international co-productions, theme talks on selected topics&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Country Sessions&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sessions with public funds or other experts to present the co-production potential of the selected countries\/regions and explain how international co-production works in these countries&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Networking opportunities during receptions.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The visitors will gain visibility by being promoted in a special EFM brochure where the partner institutions and all their visitors are presented with company profiles, photo and contact information.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telefilm Canada will select <strong>up to 10 applicants<\/strong> to participate in this initiative. Decision-making will be based on qualitative information to select the projects with the best potential to eventually (i) be produced as international treaty co-productions between Canada and other foreign countries, and\/or (ii) be sold in international markets.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following criteria will serve as a guide, and no specific weighting will be attributed to each of the components:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Applicant\u2019s objectives for participating in the initiative.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track record of the applicant production company and producer.&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Producers who have participated in an international training program and\/or co-production workshop in the past (i.e. ACE, EAVE, RCF, Rotterdam Lab, IFP, etc.).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Production company\/producers who have received financing from a provincial, federal, or national institution in the last 3 years.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Production company\/producers who have garnered recognition on the national or international festival circuit with a film.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>*Experienced producers or financiers <\/em><\/strong><em>(completed at least one international co-production in the past three years)<\/em><strong><em> looking for new projects<\/em><\/strong><em> to co-produce or co-finance (not bringing their own projects), can find information <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.efm-berlinale.de\/en\/copro-market\/participation\/participation.html#!\/subcontent=apply_without_project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><em>here<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><em>on how to apply without a project.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ABOUT<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Created in 2004, the <strong>Berlinale Co-Production Market<\/strong> is a five-day event within the <strong>European Film Market<\/strong><strong>(EFM)<\/strong>, a &#8220;must attend&#8221; event for the international film industry.
