{"id":174714,"date":"2025-10-22T11:53:51","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T15:53:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/?post_type=appel-inscription&#038;p=174714"},"modified":"2026-02-12T15:07:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T20:07:21","slug":"first-look-efm-2026-berlin","status":"publish","type":"appel-inscription","link":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/en\/appel-inscription\/first-look-efm-2026-berlin","title":{"rendered":"FIRST LOOK \u2013 EFM 2026 (Berlin)\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"editor-content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CALL FOR ENTRIES<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>(Narrative feature films currently in post-production)&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Organized by Telefilm Canada, FIRST LOOK at EFM is an export and promotion initiative that will showcase a selection of 6 to 8 Canadian excerpts of narrative features to the international acquisition community at the European Film Market (Berlin).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim of the showcase is to promote Canadian feature films with export potential, with an objective of finding an international sales agent.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telefilm Canada will set a market screening at the EFM to present the 45-minute showreel. Sales agents, distributors and festival programmers will be targeted, invited and solicited by a specialist to attend the screening. It is also a selection of films that should hit the international festival circuit and market in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Selection will be based on the information requested in the form. An excerpt from the film will only be required at a later stage if the film is selected.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting in December, selected participants will have a private meeting with a Montreal specialist to discuss an export strategy for their film. The specialist will promote the EFM screening, provide post-market follow-up with sales agents, as well as a report to each participant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be considered eligible, an applicant must meet the following criteria:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a Canadian controlled corporation, as determined under sections 26 to 28 of the\u202f<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/I-21.8\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Investment Canada Act<\/em><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have its head office in Canada and carry out its activities in Canada.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Operate as an audiovisual production company.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be in the search for an international sales agent for the submitted project.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If selected, be able to produce and deliver to Telefilm Canada a file that includes an excerpt (6 minutes) of the film by\u202f<strong>January 9, 2026.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If selected, be available to participate in a virtual meeting with the consultant in December.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FILM<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be considered eligible, a film must:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a narrative feature length film financed in production by the Canada Feature Film Fund.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not have a sales agent attached to the film.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be at the post-production phase.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be directed by a Canadian<sup> <\/sup>director.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the film is a coproduction, be recognized as a majority treaty coproduction by the Minister of Canadian Heritage.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be aimed primarily at the theatrical market, with a strong potential for international sales.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-style-default act-button act-button--full-width is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-100 is-style-with-icon\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/telefilmbpm.appiancloud.com\/suite\/sites\/client\/page\/calls\/record\/lQBaiJ45Q3Cj0vo-S0MQD9tsQCCaT5lSZrGMryQvagN8IqfOS4Q6V8_YIjszNpF2_ciphFd5D8-EEQp-GxT8vtqvlFGrZrhcYsZe7bcS4n_wd4emoM\/view\/summary\"><strong style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: 1rem; font-style: inherit; letter-spacing: inherit; text-transform: inherit; display: inline !important;\">SUBMIT HERE<\/strong><i aria-label=\"Bouton primaire pleine largeur avec ic\u00f4ne\" class=\"icon far fa-external-link-alt\" aria-hidden=\"true\"> <\/i><br>    <\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This Call for Entries will be submitted through&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/log-in\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dialogue Events<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please consult the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/User-Guide_Dialogue-Events-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">User Guide<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;to submit your application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telefilm Canada will select 6 to 8 films to participate in this initiative. Decision-making will be based on qualitative information to select the projects with the best potential for success on the international market.
