coordinates the Pan-Canadian Selection Committee and the process to determine which Canadian film will be\u00a0submitted\u00a0as\u00a0<strong>Canada\u2019s choice to the International Film<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Award<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>competition at the Academy Awards\u2122<\/strong>.\u00a0This\u00a0committee will screen eligible films over the coming\u00a0weeks\u00a0and class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details has-h-3-font-size is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA<\/strong>\u00a0<\/summary>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">Be a&nbsp;feature film (over 40 minutes)&nbsp;produced outside&nbsp;the United States with a&nbsp;<strong>predominantly (more than 50%)<\/strong>&nbsp;non-English dialogue track.&nbsp;<strong>Accurate, legible English language subtitles are required<\/strong>;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">Narrative, animation and documentary feature films are eligible;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">Creative control of the film&nbsp;is&nbsp;largely in the hands of citizens,&nbsp;residents&nbsp;of&nbsp;Canada&nbsp;or individuals with refugee or asylum status&nbsp;in&nbsp;Canada;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">Must have been released&nbsp;theatrically&nbsp;in Canada&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>paid admission&nbsp;between&nbsp;October 1, 2025,&nbsp;and&nbsp;September&nbsp;30, 2026<\/strong>, and be first publicly exhibited for&nbsp;<strong>at least seven consecutive days&nbsp;<\/strong>in a commercial motion picture theater&nbsp;for the profit of the producer and exhibitor.&nbsp;The seven consecutive days of the theatrical release are required to occur in one venue;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">The film cannot have submitted for consideration in previous years for the same or another&nbsp;award&nbsp;category;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">For&nbsp;films to more easily&nbsp;meet theatrical exhibition requirements, the Academy will allow films to qualify outside&nbsp;of&nbsp;its country of origin, provided the film is theatrically exhibited outside of the United States and its&nbsp;territories for at least seven consecutive days in a commercial motion picture theater for paid&nbsp;admission;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">The film must be advertised and exploited during its qualifying theatrical release in a manner considered normal and customary to theatrical feature distribution practices. The film need not have been released in the United States<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Films that, in any version, receive a&nbsp;nontheatrical public exhibition or distribution before their qualifying theatrical release will not be eligible for Academy Awards consideration. Nontheatrical public exhibition or distribution includes but is not limited to:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-24cedd67-2cd5-4f29-aa65-2793051c54bd\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">Broadcast and cable television\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">Pay\u00a0Per\u00a0View\u00a0\/ Video\u00a0on\u00a0Demand\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">DVD\u00a0and\/or streaming\u00a0distribution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">Inflight airline distribution\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-regular-font-size\" style=\"letter-spacing:0.5%\">Internet transmission\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">As of this year,\u00a0there\u00a0are two\u00a0ways\u00a0to\u00a0submit\u00a0a film\u00a0for the International Film Award.\u00a0In addition to a film being submitted as an official selection by a country or region via the Academy-approved Selection Committees, a non-English language film can now be submitted for consideration by winning a qualifying award at an international film festival as specified in the International Feature Film Award Qualifying Festival List. Jury members also must not have any conflicts of interest (personal or financial) with the submitted films\u00a0and cannot serve on the selection committee for more than six consecutive years followed by a two-year hiatus.\u00a0Every year,\u00a0Telefilm\u00a0Canada\u00a0reviews\u00a0the jury composition to be compliant with this\u00a0rule\u00a0and must submit\u00a0a\u00a0list of the selection committee members to the Academy.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-regular-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Jury members are required to view all films submitted to the committee. Film evaluation and the final vote take place during a virtual meeting. Jurors are encouraged to consider artistic merit, authenticity, key Canadian creative elements, cultural impact, as well as the films\u2019 ability to resonate internationally across media, the industry, and audiences.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"more-information\">MORE
