Market to continue Canada\u2019s presence at\u00a0the\u00a0third\u00a0edition of the\u00a0<strong>Producer Hub<\/strong>\u00a0at the<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acfm.kr\/eng\/\">Asian Contents &amp; Film Market (ACFM)<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0taking place during the\u00a031<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biff.kr\/eng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Busan International Film Festival<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(\u201cBIFF\u201d).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the occasion, a delegation of&nbsp;up to&nbsp;<strong>5&nbsp;Canadian producers<\/strong>&nbsp;will be invited to take part in the event from&nbsp;October 10-13, 2026.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>DETAILS<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;Canadian delegation&nbsp;is designed to facilitate cross-cultural collaboration between Canadian and Asian producers, with a goal towards creating new international collaborations and facilitating new co-production and\/or co-financing opportunities between the countries.&nbsp;The&nbsp;initiative&nbsp;will feature a diverse range of programs including panel talks, case studies, seminars, and networking events.\u202fIn addition to the access to the Producer Hub, additional curated business-to-business matching sessions may be developed to&nbsp;increase&nbsp;opportunities for the delegation.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All delegation members from across Canada will be offered a complimentary market badge registration&nbsp;to ACFM&nbsp;and travel support, which includes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complimentary Market Badge&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Access to Main ACFM venue, and ACFM and Producer Hub programming&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tickets for Festival Screenings&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to P&amp;I Screenings&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to Online Screening&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Membership to Cinando&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Travel grant of&nbsp;up to&nbsp;$4,000&nbsp;CAD&nbsp;to cover part of their travel expenses&nbsp;(total support from Telefilm and provincial agencies will not exceed&nbsp;this amount)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>ELIGIBILITY<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To be eligible, an applicant must meet all the following criteria:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a Canadian controlled corporation, as determined under sections 26 to 28 of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/I-21.8\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Investment Canada Act<\/a>;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be represented during the initiative by a producer that is a Canadian citizen within the definition of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/laws-lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/c-29\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Citizenship Act<\/a>&nbsp;or a permanent resident within the definition of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/laws.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/i-2.5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Immigration and Refugee Protection Act<\/a>;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have its head office in Canada and carry out its activities in Canada;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Operate as an audiovisual production company;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have&nbsp;production&nbsp;credits&nbsp;on&nbsp;at least one feature film&nbsp;released theatrically&nbsp;or&nbsp;a&nbsp;feature film or&nbsp;television series&nbsp;that has been&nbsp;released&nbsp;on a platform, in a festival, and\/or&nbsp;aired within the past 3 years (2024-2026) up to July 2026&nbsp;(information on these productions, including credits, should be verifiable on platforms like IMDB)&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be available to participate in the activities held in Busan from&nbsp;October 10 to 13, 2026;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be able to financially cover for their travel expenses beyond the amount&nbsp;of&nbsp;$4,000&nbsp;granted by Telefilm Canada and\/or its partners;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be fluent in English for effective communication and participation in the program;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have at least one feature-length film project in development suitable for international co-production that&nbsp;could be co-produced with&nbsp;Asia, with financial and creative control along with all copyrights and options necessary for its development and promotion held by the producer, would be an asset;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have previous experience as lead producer on an official completed international co-production is an facilitating information exchange and networking among producers pursuing international co-productions and financing. This event is aimed at serving as a crucial venue for producers from various countries to share insights on changes in film production environments, market trends across different nations.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2025, Canada was selected as the Focus Country&nbsp;to center its activities around&nbsp;and showcased&nbsp;co-production projects, producers, and industry trends from&nbsp;Canada. This initiative&nbsp;fostered&nbsp;active exchanges among participants by recommending leading co-production producers from Canada, thereby strengthening the foundation for international collaboration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Asian Contents &amp; Film Market (ACFM) is a marketplace where diverse media content from films to audiovisuals, publications, webtoons, and web novels are traded.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a networking and business platform for industry professionals worldwide, ACFM provides various programs, including investment and co-production markets, industry conferences and events, and film production funding programs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over 2,000 industry professionals from more than 50 countries participate in ACFM every year during the Busan International Film Festival. ACFM 2026&nbsp;will host a physical market to provide in-person networking and business opportunities to worldwide participants with online components supplemented.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Busan International Film Festival<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Busan International Film Festival has grown from Korea&#8217;s first international film festival to Korea&#8217;s and Asia\u2019s largest, and has become a film festival loved by many filmmakers and audiences not only in Asia but also in the world. As of 2019, 299 works were invited from a total of 85 countries, and the number of theaters that started with 6 has increased to 37.
