{"id":191292,"date":"2026-07-02T13:51:01","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T17:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/?post_type=appel-inscription&#038;p=191292"},"modified":"2026-07-14T11:00:28","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T15:00:28","slug":"2027-berlin-international-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"appel-inscription","link":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/en\/appel-inscription\/2027-berlin-international-film-festival","title":{"rendered":"2027\u00a0Berlin\u00a0International Film Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"editor-content\">\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CALL FOR ENTRIES<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>(Features-length films,&nbsp;all genres)<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telefilm Canada is currently accepting entries&nbsp;of feature-length&nbsp;narratives and&nbsp;documentaries&nbsp;with<strong>&nbsp;a world premiere status<\/strong>&nbsp;on behalf of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.berlinale.de\/en\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Berlinale<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;next edition.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telefilm Canada will organize&nbsp;a private&nbsp;screening&nbsp;session&nbsp;for&nbsp;the Berlinale\u2019s&nbsp;co-director of film programming&nbsp;who will travel to Montreal in mid September. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IMPORTANT:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The&nbsp;festival&nbsp;has&nbsp;expressed the wish to&nbsp;accept&nbsp;only<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>features&nbsp;<strong>with a&nbsp;World premiere status&nbsp;for the screenings in Montreal.<\/strong>&nbsp;Films with an International or&nbsp;European status should be&nbsp;submitted&nbsp;directly&nbsp;to the festival&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;festival\u2019s&nbsp;registration fees will apply.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Due to the increased number of feature-length film entries, and time constraints,&nbsp;<strong>not all&nbsp;submitted&nbsp;films will be screened by the&nbsp;delegate&nbsp;while in Montreal.&nbsp;<\/strong>Once the Berlinale&nbsp;programming committee&nbsp;receives the list of entries&nbsp;submitted&nbsp;to&nbsp;Telefilm Canada,&nbsp;it&nbsp;will take care to prioritize,&nbsp;identify&nbsp;and choose&nbsp;the titles&nbsp;to be&nbsp;watched&nbsp;by the delegate&nbsp;in Montreal.<strong>&nbsp;The<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>festival waives its entry fees only for films screened in Montreal.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All other titles <strong>with a world premiere status<\/strong>\u00a0that will not be screened in Montreal will have to\u00a0be registered\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0festival\u00a0platform\u00a0and will be evaluated\u00a0in Berlin.\u00a0In which case, the festival\u00a0will\u00a0offer a special reduced fee of \u20ac135 per feature length film.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Short films and&nbsp;TV&nbsp;Series must be&nbsp;submitted&nbsp;directly to the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;films must:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Meet the festival\u2019s&nbsp;admissibility criteria&nbsp;(to be consulted on the festival website).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be completed in the 12 months preceding the&nbsp;festival.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a running time&nbsp;of&nbsp;60+&nbsp;minutes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not have been released commercially, nor telecast or webcast, outside their country of origin or in&nbsp;Europe.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>REGISTRATION PROCESS<\/strong><\/summary>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the \u201cBerlinale&nbsp;2027&nbsp;preselection screenings\u201d form on Telefilm Canada\u2019s&nbsp;Dialogue&nbsp;platform.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide a downloadable&nbsp;Vimeo&nbsp;link available until September 1, 2026. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your image editing should be final. The programmers are used to viewing work at the post-production\/rough cut stage (i.e. with no colour timing, no final mix, temporary music, etc.) and, as such, know how to \u201cfill in the technical gaps.\u201d&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary><strong>SELECTION PROCESS<\/strong><\/summary>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Films entered through this process that meet the eligibility criteria&nbsp;of&nbsp;the festival will be screened by the festival. Telefilm Canada does not filter nor preselect films.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the&nbsp;Montreal\u2019s&nbsp;screenings are over, Telefilm will email each applicant to let them know the results, if their film was either rejected or &#8216;shortlisted&#8217; by the festival delegate. Shortlisted films will move to step 2 and be reviewed by the&nbsp;rest of the&nbsp;festival committee between October-December 2026.
