CALL FOR ENTRIES<\/strong> <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

(Producers\/directors\/editors of a narrative feature film at editing stage) <\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a third consecutive year, Telefilm Canada has renewed its partnership with FIRST CUT LAB,<\/strong> a consultancy program designed for\u202f2 feature films supported by Telefilm Canada, in editing phase. Created in 2015, the First Cut Lab is a well-established and internationally recognized program managed by <\/strong>Tatino Films (Paris).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Telefilm Canada’s agreement with First Cut Lab allows two teams to participate in the <\/strong>next edition.<\/strong> <\/strong>The selected teams (director\/producer\/editor) are offered\u202fa creative framework, both benevolent & challenging, where to open\u202fnew perspectives\u202fand to explore the whole\u202fartistic potential\u202fof their films.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lab will be conducted online\u00a0over 2 days, and schedules will be adjusted to meet the needs of the selected projects, within the period from November 2026\u00a0to March\u00a015, 2027.\u00a0A preferred period for the Lab should be mentioned in the application form.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will screen their rough cuts in private sessions and receive expert feedback from three international film industry advisors and tailored advice from a consultant editor. The consultants and advisors will be chosen based on the profiles of the selected films. An overview of regular consultants can be found<\/strong> here<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once the workshop is over, the participants will receive\u202fa report & a roadmap\u202fthat can serve as guidance for further editing.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main goal of First Cut Lab is to foster the artistic potential of the selected rough cuts and, at the same time, to increase the sales, festival and circulation potential of the completed films. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

N.B<\/strong>.: Projects potentially interested in First Cut Lab Canada 2027, but that cannot provide video material by the September deadline (e.g. because the principal photography of the film is not over, or because it has not taken place yet), should still fill out the application form and apply by this deadline. If eligible, they will be contacted by First Cut Lab to agree on a specific deadline to provide their video material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To be considered eligible, a film must:<\/strong>\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n
