At Telefilm Canada, we believe that promoting bilingualism strengthens both our organizational culture and our impact. This plan strives to ensure a work environment and service to the public that respect the official languages, while fostering the active participation of all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Pillars<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Telefilm Canada’s 2025-2027 Official Languages Action Plan is based on five pillars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

1. Leadership and governance<\/strong> <\/span><\/i><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

a. Strengthen <\/strong>employees\u2019 involvement in creating a culture that embraces the spirit of the Official Languages Act (OLA), and encourage them to get involved in official languages initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b. Ensure <\/strong>stringent monitoring of initiatives via annual reporting and the signing of collaboration agreements and funding targets with partners in official language minority communities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2. Training and language security<\/strong> <\/span><\/i><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

a. Provide <\/strong>enriched integration by presenting the OLA to new staff members, as well as Telefilm\u2019s official languages action plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b. Organize <\/strong>a yearly information session on the OLA and the importance of bilingualism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c. Include <\/strong>a clear reference in presentation templates about the right to express oneself in the official language of choice during meetings and training sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

d. Provide <\/strong>language training tools and paths, which can be accessed via the employee on-boarding portal, the learning management system and internal communications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

3. Communication and service delivery<\/strong> <\/span><\/i><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

a. Ensure <\/strong>rigorous bilingualism in the provision of contracts and communications by integrating consistent templates and clauses (where applicable).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b. Verify <\/strong>that suppliers meet our language requirements through surveys and adjustments to our procurement practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c. Implement <\/strong>processes and guidelines to provide equitable content in both English and French on our online platforms and promotional communications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

4. Language of work and equity<\/strong> <\/span><\/i><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

a. Maintain <\/strong>an inclusive work environment in which both official languages are valued equitably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b. Include <\/strong>reminders for managers at various management meetings, as well as communication tools on their official language obligations and responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c. Harmonize <\/strong>language requirement criteria in Telefilm\u2019s job postings so as to meet the spirit and requirements of the OLA and define the internal support available to fulfill these requirements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

5. Human resources and professional development<\/strong> <\/span><\/i><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

a. Establish <\/strong>a development plan for language training and succession planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b. Implement <\/strong>a process to keep language tests for bilingual positions up to date and include a discussion of staff training needs in managers\u2019 objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c. Document and communicate<\/strong> support paths and accommodation measures available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
