{"id":137676,"date":"2023-02-23T15:30:44","date_gmt":"2023-02-23T20:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/?p=137676"},"modified":"2026-06-15T15:14:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T19:14:59","slug":"theatrical-documentary-program-for-fiscal-year-2023-2024-guidelines-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/en\/theatrical-documentary-program-for-fiscal-year-2023-2024-guidelines-now-available","title":{"rendered":"Theatrical Documentary Program for fiscal year 2023 &#8211; 2024: Guidelines now available"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"editor-content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">February 23, 2023&nbsp;&#8211; Telefilm Canada is pleased to inform Canadian production companies that the Theatrical Documentary Program\u2019s guidelines, essential information guide and other supporting documents for the 2023-2024 fiscal are now available.<br><br><strong>The main changes to this Program are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Starting in fiscal year 2023-2024, a project that is refused by Telefilm three (3) times under this Program cannot be re-submitted for funding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The requirement to have a firm commitment from an eligible Canadian distribution company for the theatrical release of projects with a total budget of $500,000 or less has been removed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><strong>Reminder of Key Program dates:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All applications, including for postproduction and applications to the Indigenous Stream must be submitted to Telefilm between March 20 and April 3, 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Under this program, Telefilm aims to support feature-length documentaries that engage Canadian and international audiences through theatrical releases and that have a cultural impact and foster public engagement, while contributing to Canada\u2019s cultural heritage.<br><br>To learn more about this Program, please&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/programmes\/theatrical-documentary\"><strong><u>click here<\/u><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 23, 2023&nbsp;&#8211; Telefilm Canada is pleased to inform Canadian production companies that the Theatrical Documentary Program\u2019s guidelines, essential information guide and other supporting documents for the 2023-2024 fiscal are now available.
