{"id":190364,"date":"2026-05-07T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/?p=177293"},"modified":"2026-06-15T15:19:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T19:19:35","slug":"telefilm-canada-launches-two-new-programs-following-the-review-of-the-promotion-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/en\/telefilm-canada-launches-two-new-programs-following-the-review-of-the-promotion-program","title":{"rendered":"Telefilm Canada launches two new programs following the review of the Promotion Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"editor-content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telefilm Canada announces the launch of two&nbsp;new programs&nbsp;following the review of the Industry Initiatives stream of the Promotion Program.&nbsp;This review was guided by Telefilm\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/strategic-program-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Strategic Orientation Framework<\/a>&nbsp;and was informed by discussions with the industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former Industry Initiatives stream of the Promotion Program has been replaced by two distinct programs:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/programmes\/career-development-initiatives-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Career Development Initiatives Program<\/strong><\/a>, and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/programmes\/industry-promotion-initiatives-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Industry Promotion Initiatives Program<\/strong><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both programs will now be open to new applicants, rather than being limited to&nbsp;pre\u2011approved&nbsp;organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Career Development Initiatives Program<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Career Development Initiatives Program advances the goal of strengthening Canada\u2019s audiovisual industry by supporting the career progression of Canadian and Indigenous professionals nationwide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Program provides targeted financial support for capacity building activities that strengthen the talent pipeline for Canadian and Indigenous creators and professional workers in the audiovisual sector. The focus is on mentorship, professional development, skills&nbsp;enhancement&nbsp;and career advancement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Program&nbsp;Objectives<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Career Development Initiatives Program aims to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strengthen the industry by supporting activities that address current and emerging gaps in Canadian content,&nbsp;talent&nbsp;and professional development;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create opportunities for industry professionals to build&nbsp;expertise, gain&nbsp;hands\u2011on&nbsp;experience&nbsp;and advance their careers;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support the growth of the Canadian audiovisual industry nationally and its expansion internationally;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage collaboration among career development organizations and other expert partners; and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support&nbsp;an equitable&nbsp;and balanced portfolio of activities, reflecting regional and diverse representation.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Industry Promotion Initiatives Program<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Industry Promotion Initiatives Program aims to enhance the visibility of Canadian and Indigenous content and talent and to stimulate audience interest in Canada and internationally.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Program supports strategic activities that contribute to the promotion of Canada\u2019s audiovisual sector, including:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>National film and television award ceremonies;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alternative screening networks;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conferences&nbsp;and&nbsp;symposiums;&nbsp;and&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other audiovisual industry promotion activities.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Program Objectives<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Industry Promotion Initiatives Program aims to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expand and sustain audience growth and engagement for Canadian and Indigenous content;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase recognition of Canadian and Indigenous content and talent in Canada and abroad;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support activities that respond to market needs and strengthen promotion and industry knowledge; and&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support&nbsp;an equitable&nbsp;and balanced portfolio of activities, reflecting regions and diverse communities.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In support of Telefilm\u2019s broader commitments, these&nbsp;Programs&nbsp;focus&nbsp;on national activities and integrates a stronger data\u2011driven approach that is aligned with Telefilm\u2019s action plans for Official Languages (including&nbsp;OLMC), Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA), regional&nbsp;strategies&nbsp;and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application process and intake dates<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Career Development Initiatives Program<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Program will&nbsp;accept applications through&nbsp;<strong>two annual intakes<\/strong>, based on the start dates of proposed activities:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>First intake<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>For activities starting between October 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>June 2,&nbsp;2026&nbsp;at 8:00 a.m. (ET) to June 16,&nbsp;2026&nbsp;at 11:59 p.m. (ET)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Second intake<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>For activities starting between April 1, 2027, and September 30, 2027<\/strong>&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>November 3,&nbsp;2026&nbsp;at 8:00 a.m. (ET) to November 17,&nbsp;2026&nbsp;at 11:59 p.m. (ET)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further details on eligibility, assessment&nbsp;criteria&nbsp;and funding parameters&nbsp;are&nbsp;outlined in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/programmes\/career-development-initiatives-program#guidelines-and-important-documents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Program Guidelines<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Industry Promotion Initiatives Program<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Program&nbsp;<strong>will be open for applications throughout the intake period<\/strong>, under the following parameters:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Program opening<\/strong>:&nbsp;<strong>June 2, 2026<\/strong>, at&nbsp;<strong>8:00 a.m<\/strong>.
