{"id":141656,"date":"2023-07-07T16:05:50","date_gmt":"2023-07-07T20:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/?post_type=programmes&#038;p=141656"},"modified":"2026-06-10T13:52:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-10T17:52:10","slug":"new-dawn-international-film-production-fund","status":"publish","type":"programmes","link":"https:\/\/telefilm.ca\/en\/programmes\/new-dawn-international-film-production-fund","title":{"rendered":"New Dawn \u2013 International film production fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"editor-content\">\n<h2 id=\"summary\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Summary<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Launched in May 2022 at the Cannes Film Festival, New Dawn international film production fund strives for a vibrant, open, and inclusive film industry with true diversity of perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In September 2022, Telefilm Canada joined this initiative of 10 public film funds, towards exploring more ways to open up the international film industry to a greater diversity of voices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New Dawn had its first projects supported in September 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"who-can-apply\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview of the program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New Dawn operates as a production fund, by making additional funding available for feature length fiction, animation and documentary, as well as supporting filmmakers in setting up networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"who-can-apply\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who can apply to the New Dawn Fund<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Canadian production companies with an eligible project (Canadian or international coproduction), who received a selective support based on artistic quality from a national or regional fund, in their country of residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please refer to the eligibility criteria detailed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/newdawn.film\/faq\/\">FAQ section<\/a> of the New Dawn Fund website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"overview-of-the-program\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is two deadlines each year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A project can only be submitted to New Dawn fund once.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications must be made via email to New Dawn directly by the majority producer only (refer to link below).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The assessment of the applications will be done by a committee of independent international film professionals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New Dawn Fund is made up of representatives from participating public film funds to establish overall strategy and selection criteria.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Producers wanting to submit a project must contact their national representative at least two weeks before the deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"overview-of-the-program\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview of eligibility requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please consult the official&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/newdawn.film\/apply-for-new-dawn\/\">New Dawn website<\/a>&nbsp;for specific eligibility requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New&nbsp;eligibility criteria<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Only first or second feature length films qualify<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Budget cap for fiction features: 3.5 million euros (EUR)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Budget cap for documentary features: 800,000 euros (EUR)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No cap for animation feature films<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"overview-of-the-program\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important information<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All documents must be submitted in English.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You need to have a signed contract with TFC to apply or if your project received a selective support from a provincial agency, the Canada Media Fund or the Indigenous Screen Office, you can contact them directly for eligibility assessment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The financial structure must include the application to New Dawn, be presented in Cad$ and Euros at the current rate (specify the conversion rate used in the document), and specify confirmed and prospective sources.
