ABOUT

Founded in 1982, the festival is one of the biggest and most important international festivals for animation. The festival attracts close to 90,000 cinephiles and 2,500 accredited professionals. The concurrent industry events comprise the 17th Animation Production Days, a 4-day coproduction and financing forum that brings together 170 participants from 20 countries with 50 projects in development, and the FMX – Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Immersive Media which attracts an additional 4,000 industry attendees.

Among the varied film programmes, the focus is on short films for adults and children. A total of up to 70,000 € in prize money is awarded in the various competition sections for features and shorts. The winning short film of the Grand Prix (15,000 €) automatically qualifies for the Oscar Animated short category. Two prizes are reserved to school films, including the Best Graduation Film (10,000 €).
