32nd Tokyo International Film Festival
Call for entries
(Feature films – Fiction and animation)
The Tokyo International Film Festival is currently accepting entries for its 2019 edition.
Please note that all films must be submitted directly to the festival.
- Submission format: DVD or online screener
- Competitive: Yes
- Entry fees: Yes
Eligibility
- Open to narrative features with a running time over 60 minutes and completed after January 1st, 2019;
- Entries must not have been released in Asia prior to the festival;
- Priority given to world and international premiere;
- Entries must not have been screened in the main competition section of “competitive feature film festivals (non-specialised)” accredited by FIAPF prior to TIFF (please refer to FIAPF’s official website for the list of accredited festivals: http://www.fiapf.org/intfilmfestivals_sites.asp);
- Non-English entries must be submitted in their original version with English subtitles;
- Selected non-English films must have English subtitles. The festival will provide the electronic Japanese subtitling;
- Screening format: High definition digital format;
- Documentary films are not eligible for the Competition section.
Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) presents its 32nd edition this year. The TIFF Competition section introduced to the world many brilliant young talents who later became big names in the industry. These names include Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Aki Kaurismaki, Tsai Ming-Liang, etc. The festival continues to show both new and accomplished talent.
In addition to the Competition, the World Focus section features films that were a hit at major international film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Rotterdam or Berlin.
The festival will invite the director and lead actor or actress of selected films in the international competition and offer a number of cash prizes totalling $US 90,000.
TIFFCOM, the festival affiliated business market, will hold its 16th edition in October 2019.
