33rd Stockholm International Film Festival

CALL FOR ENTRIES 

(Feature and Short films, Narrative and Documentary) 

The Stockholm International Film Festival  is currently accepting applications for its 2021 edition. 

 Please note that films must be submitted directly to the festival via FilmFreeway.

ELIGIBILITY  
  1. Features must be over 72 minutes. Shorts must be under 30 minutes. 
  2. Films must be a Swedish Premiere. The festival favours films with a Nordic premiere, but accepts submissions of films that have already premiered in the Nordic  region.  
  3. To be selected for the Stockholm Impact competition, the festival requires at least European premiere. 
  4. Stockholm Competition. Open to directors making their first, second or third dramatic feature.

Founded in 1990, Stockholm International Film Festival continues to explore and promote the great directors of tomorrow and is established as one of the leading film festivals in Europe. With a passion for visionary filmmaking, the festival keeps on pushing forward the boundaries of cinema. The main sections are: 

I – Stockholm Competition. Groundbreaking directors compete for the heaviest award on the festival circuit, the Bronze Horse. Open to directors making their first, second or third dramatic feature. II – Stockholm Documentary Competition. Personal and original documentaries from around the world in competition for the Bronze Horse. III – Stockholm Impact. Bold films on pressing contemporary issues. International or European premiere required. IV – Open Zone. The most influential directors in world cinema are contenders for the FIPRESCI award. V – Icons. A showcase of major performances by the leading actors and actresses in current cinema. VI – Discovery. Powerful and diverse stories from debut directors.
VII – American Independents. The United States of America through the eyes of its most independent filmmakers. VIII – Twilight Zone. Mind-bending genre films suited for the darkest hours. IX- Documania. The most vital biopic docs and real stories of the year. X – Spotlight. A section focused on a current cinematic theme. XI – Stockholm Short Film Competition. Edgy shorts from across the globe in competition. 

 Telefilm Canada recognizes a FEATURE FILM selection in this festival and may provide assistance through theInternational Promotion Program.
