(Full-length narratives and documentaries)

The São Paulo International Film Festival is currently accepting entries for its 2022 edition. Please note that all films must be submitted directly to the festival.

Eligibility 

In New Filmmakers Competition, the film must be: 

  • A first or second feature film of the director; 
  • Completed as of November 2021; 
  • Have a running time of 70 minutes or more; 
  • A Brazilian Premiere; 
  • Have at least one digital copy (preferably a DCP – link or in a HD format) available throughout the Festival period. 

In Perspective International Section, the film must be: 

  • Produced after January 2021; 
  • Have a running time of 70 minutes or more; 
  • Never to have been shown for an audience or online in Brazil; 
  • A Brazilian Premiere  
  • Have at least one digital copy (preferably a DCP – link or on a hd) available throughout the Festival period.  

The São Paulo International Film Festival is a competitive festival with an emphasis on independent works. The festival features an international selection reflecting the diversity of contemporary filmmaking and revealing new talents.  

The New Filmmakers Competition is a competitive section of first or second fiction or documentary features. The Perspective International Section is a panorama of the most important and representative productions in world cinema of the last two years open to feature length fiction, documentary and animated films. Films in the Perspective International Section compete for the Audience Award.
