CALL FOR ENTRIES
(Market screenings – Feature-length films, narratives, and documentaries)
Perspective Canada at Berlin is the brand name of a group of market screenings reuniting a selection of Canadian features showcased at the European Film Market that runs parallel to the Berlinale. Now celebrating its 20th year, Perspective is a well-established initiative recognized by industry professionals.
The showcase strives to increase the international promotion and exploitation of Canadian feature-length films and to spotlight Canadian companies, films, and talent to the 10,000 professionals from more than 110 countries accredited by the EFM.
Perspective Canada will present around 10 or 12 feature-length films in the EFM cinemas. Every film selected in Perspective Canada will be screened once at the EFM. Applicants wishing to present their film twice will have to cover 100% of the cost for the second screening.
MARKET SCREENING RATES
By being part of Perspective Canada, you benefit from an Exhibitor’s screening rate without having to be one. EFM screening costs range from 400 to 700 € per hour, depending on the theater and date of your screening.
Telefilm Canada will cover a maximum of 50% of the cost of one screening for a maximum of 250 euros per hour of one market screening, which amounts to a maximum of 500 euros per film or screening. The applicant and the sales agent must cover the remaining balance. See EFM prices details here.

N.B. In the case of a foreign-based international sales company representing an invited Canadian film, Telefilm Canada will invoice the Canadian-controlled production company for the market screening costs.
Promotional campaign: The film selected in Perspective Canada will also benefit from a promotional campaign developed and entirely funded by Telefilm Canada to guarantee the best possible exposure for the invited Canadian films.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Open to feature-length narratives and documentaries.
Films must have a sales agent attached. In a highly competitive market like the EFM, where hundreds of films compete for attention through market screenings, having a sales agent is essential to attract industry professionals and ensure the screening room doesn’t end up empty.
A film must be:

- A non-Telefilm Canada funded Canadian production selected at the 2027 Berlinale, or the Sundance Festival, or the Rotterdam International Film Festival, or;
- An official Canadian coproduction directed by a Canadian filmmaker.
- Represented and submitted by a Canadian owned and controlled distribution or production company (within the meaning of the Investment Canada Act) as defined in the CFFF guidelines.
- Not publicly released theatrically before September 2026.
- A Market Premiere as per the EFM eligibility criteria.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The selection of the films for Perspective Canada will be made according to the sliding priority scale below until the slate has been filled:
- Eligible films that are officially selected as world premieres by the Berlinale, Sundance Festival, or Rotterdam Festival in 2027.
- Eligible recent films that have won a recognized award on the national or international festival circuit in the months leading up to the market.
- Eligible films with the most distinguished track record of performance at the Canadian box office in the months leading up to the market.
Telefilm Canada shall seek to maintain an appropriate regional balance, to encourage films and distribution and production companies from all regions of Canada.
SELECTION AND KEY DATES
Applicants will be notified of the selection results by November 27, 2026.
If selected, applicant or your sales agent must meet the EFM’s deadlines:
