(Workshop – Emerging Producers)

Telefilm Canada, in partnership with the 56th International Film Festival Rotterdam (“IFFR”), is offering three emerging Canadian producers the opportunity to attend the Rotterdam Lab, organized by the IFFR Pro & CineMart.

Initiated in 2001 by CineMart (the renowned co-production financing forum), the Rotterdam Lab is a 5-day well-structured workshop for emerging producers interested in international co-productions and seeking to expand their international network. The aim of the Lab is to help promising producers develop their network and provide them with skills to navigate the world of international film financing, sales, and distribution.

The workshop, which includes panel sessions, roundtables, and networking events, brings together 70 participating producers from more than 40 countries.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To make sure that the Rotterdam Lab is as fruitful as possible for each of the participants, several conditions and guidelines have been set up.

  1. The Rotterdam Lab is a program for emerging producers who have produced at least one narrative feature, financed by Telefilm Canada, and not more than two in their career. *
  2. You must have a feature-length project (narrative) in development suitable for co-production.
  3. You are a Canadian citizen or have a landed permanent resident status.

*Exceptions for films not financed by Telefilm Canada will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

SELECTION PROCESS

The choice of three participants is conducted by Telefilm Canada and the selected candidates will be informed in November 2026.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS AT THE LAB

As per Telefilm’s agreement with the Lab, each participant will receive a CineMart accreditation badge and six nights of accommodation at one of the festival hotels.

Selected producers can also apply to Telefilm’s International Promotion Program for financial support to attend this event.
