The Skábmagovat Film Festival is currently accepting applications for its up-coming edition.  

Films must be submitted to the festival directly

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Films whose director, producer or screenwriter is part of an Indigenous group.

ABOUT

Since 1999, the Indigenous people’s film festival Skábmagovat is organized annually in Inari, center of Sámi culture in Finland, 320 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. The world’s northernmost indigenous people’s film festival, Skábmagovat aims to strengthen cooperation, cohesion and dialogue among indigenous peoples. 

The festival is an international and communal event, and one of the oldest Indigenous film festivals in the world. Its specialty is its outdoor theatre which is made of snow. Films are also shown indoors, from dawn to dusk.  

Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature film in the festival for applications to its International Promotion Program
