The call for registrations to take part in the preliminary phase of the 2024-2025 Canada-France Series Lab is now open. You must register directly on the Series Mania website.
DETAILS
Created in 2022, the Canada-France Series Lab is a joint venture between Series Mania Forum, Telefilm Canada, and the CNC. Its main goal is to encourage and facilitate co-productions of fiction series between Canadian and French producers. The Canada-France Series Lab offers them new meeting opportunities and will foster the development of projects with strong international potential in a competitive environment. The initiative is a one year program starting with a preliminary phase at Series Mania 2024. The subsequent phases will take part in Canada, online and ending with a dedicated pitch in the official programming at Series Mania 2025.
The Canada-France Series Lab is created in partnership with the French Embassy in Canada, The Embassy of Canada in France and the Canada Media Fund and in collaboration with the Alberta Film Commission, the Alliance des producteurs francophone du Canada, the Black Screen Office, the Indigenous Screen Office and Ontario Creates.
PRELIMINARY PHASE
Up to ten (10) producers from each country will be selected for the preliminary phase of the Canada-France Series Lab which will take place online in March 2024 and during the 2024 Series Mania Forum in Lille (France). This preliminary phase aims at learning more about Canada-France coproduction and at meeting producers from France or Canada in order to form co-producing pairs around a fiction series project in development.
This call for entries concerns the preliminary phase only
Projects must be registered in accordance with the regulations described in the rules & regulations document. The registration of a project implies unreserved acceptance of the present regulations and, if the project is selected, a commitment to the presence of a representative at the online session at the beginning of March and at the event from March 19 to 21, 2024.
KEY DATES
December 13, 2023 – February 2, 2024: Call for registrations to the preliminary phase
Week of February 12, 2024: Notification of participation to eligible producers
Early March 2024 (exact date tbc), online: Introductory session
From March 19 to 21, 2024, in Lille: Dedicated activities during Series Mania Forum (full program tba)
May – June 2024: call for applications for the pairs of Canadian and French producers with a fiction series project and selection by a jury of experts
September 2024 – February 2025: group workshops and individual tailormade consultations with experts in person (in Canada) and virtually – more details to come
March 2025: pitch sessions and meetings with decision-makers at the Series Mania Forum
