The Hong Kong International Film Festival is currently accepting entries for its 2020 edition.
Please note that all films must be submitted directly to the Festival.

HKIFF has grown to be one of Asia’s most reputable festival and market. Screening 300 titles from 60 countries, it reaches an audience of over 600,000 and 4,500 business executives attending the concurrent Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART).
Eligibility
- Consult the festival website for eligibility requirements according to each section.
- Films must have been completed after 1 January 2019.
The HKIFF showcases features (60 min. or above), documentaries, shorts (all genres, max. 15 min) and animations programmed into the following sections:
- Young Cinema Competition: filmmakers’ first, second or third films.
- Documentary Competition: feature docs addressing social issues with aesthetic significance. The winning film of the Firebird Award becomes eligible for the Oscars Feature Documentary category;
- Realities Bites: a non competitive section with feature documentaries;
- Indie Power: independent and audacious films;
- World Animation;
- Poetry in Motion: features experimental films.
The Juries present awards and cash prizes to the winning directors.
A director with a selected narrative and documentary feature in competition will be invited by the Festival, with the travelling expenses covered by the HKIFF.
Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature-length film in the Hong Kong International Film Festival and may provides assistance through the International Festival Participation Program.
