ABOUT
The festival is dedicated to documentaries of which it seeks to promote the widest possible spectrum: experimental films, essays, personal diaries, family films, current affairs and social issues, historical investigations, and films with classic or fragmented narrative approaches. The festival programs three international competitive sections. Showcasing a broad range of works from accomplished filmmakers to student films, the festival has several competitive and non-competitive sections.
In 2022, the festival hosted the world premiere of the Canadian feature ROJEK. In 2023, the festival showcased three Canadian documentaries: CAITI BLUES, MOTHER SAIGON and WHILE THE GREEN GRASS GROWS (Switzerland/Canada) which won the Grand Jury Prize.
The Doc Outlook International Market complements the festival and fosters contacts for the funding and promotion of films, as well as for networking and for acquiring film rights. More than 1000 participants from 50 countries (producers, buyers, decision makers, etc.) attend the market.
Telefilm Canada recognizes a selection of a feature-length film in the Festival for application to its International Promotion Program.
