(Feature and Short films – all genres)

 

The Melbourne International Film Festival is currently accepting applications for its next edition.

Please note that all films must be submitted directly to the festival.

  • Competitive: Yes (Short films only)
  • Entry Fees: Yes

 

Eligibility
  • Films must have been completed after January1st, 2019;
  • Films broadcast in Australia on television or on the Internet prior to August 24, 2020 are ineligible for submission;
  • Short films must be 40 minutes or less;
  • Features must be 41 minutes and more.

 

Established in 1952, the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is one of the oldest film festivals in the world. Last year, MIFF programmed of 379 films from 80 countries and 78 languages, 19 VR works, 12 talks events, an industry market, a talent developmental campus, regional touring, to an annual attending audience of 190,000+.

The festival offers several stands dedicated to international films: Headliners, International, Animation, Documentary Visions, Environmental Documentaries, Experimentations, Night Shift (genre films), MIFF Schools (for young viewers).

MIFF Shorts Awards: films in this category are competing for several cash prizes and the winners of the Best Short and Best Documentary awards become eligible to submit their film for the Academy Awards Oscars®.

Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature film at this festival as part of its Success Index and may provide financial support through the International Festival Participation Program.
