73rd Locarno Film Festival
Update
Please note that screenings of films in Montreal have been cancelled due to the pandemic situation and the closing of the borders.
Also, in conjunction with the Locarno FIlm Festival, we have agreed that Telefilm will continue to monitor film submissions and these will be viewed privately but remotely. Furthermore, the selectors of Canadian films will view them in April and will issue a shortlist afterwards.
CALL FOR ENTRIES
(Open to feature-length films, all genres)
Telefilm Canada is currently accepting Canadian entries on behalf of the 73rd Locarno Film Festival .
All feature films (60 minutes and+) will be considered for the International Competition, the Filmmakers of the Present Competition, Piazza Grande, Moving Head and Fuori concorso.
Entry fees (100 Swiss Francs) are waived for Canadian feature-length films submitted to the Montréal Selection Screenings via Telefilm Canada.
Feature films not ready to be submitted by March 31st may be sent directly to the festival and will be subject to entry fees.
The festival also programs medium-length and short films, but they must be submitted directly to the festival. The selection committee for short films is not the same as for features.

The Locarno Film Festival is renowned for its varied program focused on the discovery, new trends and passion for auteur cinema. A “F.I.A.P.F.” leading competitive festival, the Locarno Festival is recognized as one of the major showcase in Europe and a convivial networking event for distributors, buyers, producers, filmmakers and journalists. In 2014, over 160,000 viewers, 3,000 accredited professionals and 900 journalists attended the festival.
