ABOUT
Established in 1952, the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is one of the oldest film festivals in the world. The festival offers several sections dedicated to international films: North America, Documentaries, Night Shift (genre films), International Shorts, etc.
MIFF Shorts Awards: films in this category are competing for a several cash prizes and the winners of the Grand Prix for best Short, Best animation Short and best documentary short awards become eligible to submit their film for the Academy Awards® in 2025.
In 2024 the festival selected over of 10 Canadian films, including Universal Language (M. Rankin), Rumours (G. Maddin, E. Johnson, G. Johnson), The Shrouds (D. Cronenberg), Who By Fire (P. Lesage), Intercepted (O. Karpovych, Matt and Mara (K. Radwanski), Who Do I Belong To (M. Joobeur), I Shall Not Hate (T. Barda) and many others.
Telefilm Canada recognizes selection of feature films in the Melbourne International Film Festival as part of its International Promotion Program.
