78th Locarno First Look – Canadian Showcase 2025

Canada will be the featured country at the upcoming Locarno Film Festival. For its 14th edition, the First Look initiative organized by the industry component of the Locarno Film Festival will focus on Canadian cinema, thanks to a partnership with Telefilm Canada.

Through its agreement with the festival, Telefilm Canada offers the financial support to cover flights and accommodation for the producers of the six selected projects to attend the event.

DETAILS

• . A selection of six narrative films in progress will be presented in a theatre to an audience of sales agents, buyers, and festival programmers, with the aim of assisting their completion and enhancing their sales prospects and participation in international festivals.
• Projects are selected between May and June by a committee appointed by the Locarno Festival. The film selection and jury members will be announced in July. The jury, made up of international festival directors, will attend the screenings in Locarno and award several prizes. The winners will be announced at the Locarno Pro awards ceremony on Sunday August 10
