8th San Sebastian – Europe-Latin America Co-production Forum

San Sebastian, Spain, September 22 to 25, 2019

CALL FOR ENTRIES

(Feature film companies (fiction, documentary, animation) who have at least (1) one project in development destined to be coproduced with Spain or a Latin American country)

 

For the fifth consecutive year, the San Sebastian International Film Festival will invite Canadian producers to participate in the 8th europe-latin america co-production forum. If you wish to be part of the canadian delegation please register with telefilm canada via our new platform:  Up to 5 Canadian producers will participate.

The San Sebastian International Film Festival created a Europe-Latin America Co-production Forum in 2012 which attracts key decision makers from Latin America and Europe. In 2019, the San Sebastian Film Festival wish to renew its collaboration with Canada to invite Canadian producers to benefit from the various activities of the Festival and Forum.

While the Forum is intended for projects originating from Europe and Latin America, the Canadian producers will have an opportunity to participate in general networking events with Spanish and Latin-American producers in order to develop new alliances and work together on the development and possibly the production of a feature film project.

Participants may also take advantage of the activities at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. This is a unique opportunity for producers to develop their business network internationally and enhance their knowledge on co-productions with Spanish-speaking countries.

 

WHO CAN REGISTER?

The invitation is extended to feature film production companies (fiction, documentary, animation)* who should meet the following conditions:

  1. Companies that have produced at least (1) one coproduction project in the last 5 years;
  2. Priority will be granted to producers who have at least (1) one feature film project in development destined to be coproduced with Spain or a Latin American country**;
  3. The producer representing the company must be a Canadian citizen or have a valid permanent resident status according to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
  4. Priority will be given to producers that have not participated in 2017 and 2018.

* Please note that only one producer per company may register

** Note that Canada has signed co-production treaties with Argentina, Brazil, Chili, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela.

 

HOW DOES THE SELECTION PROCESS WORK

The selection of participants will be carried out by the San Sebastian Film Festival and Telefilm Canada.

The choice of participants will be announced the week of August 12, 2019.

 

 WHAT WILL THE SELECTED PRODUCERS RECEIVE?

Participants will receive:

  • Accreditation at the Festival and at the Forum;
  • Four (4) nights lodging;
  • A $700 travel grant;
  • Round trip transfers between the airport (San Sebastian, Bilbao or Biarritz) and San Sebastian;
  • Program of activities in San Sebastian.

*All other costs will be borne by participants.
