- Films must not have been released in Spain;
- Films must have been produced in 2020/2021;
- Fantastic themes, interpreting this concept in a wide sense, and always keeping in mind that quality and the creation of tendencies are a priority objective;
About
SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is the number one fantasy film festival in the world offering encounters, exhibitions, presentations and screenings of fantasy films from all over the world. It has also been declared “Qualified Festival” by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences®. That makes Sitges able to present its award-winning shorts from its Official and Animation sections as candidates for the Oscars®.
Founded in 1968 as the 1st International Week of Fantasy and Horror Movies, today the Festival is an essential rendez-vous for movie lovers and audiences attracting 130,000 spectators, 757 journalists, 700 industry guests, and reaching 55,000 Facebook followers and 42,500 on Twitter.
Several categories of the festival are competitive and offer awards including the Official Fantàstic In-Competition, Noves Visions, Panorama Fantàstic Section, Midnight X-Treme and Anima’t. The Citizen Kane Award (“Premi Citizen Kane al millor director novell” ) is granted to the best sensational new director.
Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature film in the Festival for applications to its International Festival participation Program.
