20th Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente

The Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente is currently accepting applications for its 2018 edition.

Please note that films must be submitted directly to the festival.

  • Submission format: DVD or a digital link
  • Competitive: Yes

 Eligibility
  • Films must be narrative, experimental or a documentary and a director’s first, second or third feature;
  • All productions must have been completed after January 1, 2017;
  • Selected films: a Spanish-subtitled screening copy is preferred. If there is no version with Spanish subtitles, then a version with English subtitles will be required. 

The Festival of Buenos Aires, “BAFICI”, is organized by the Ministerio de Cultura del Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. The festival selects over 400 feature films and organizes a series of workshops and complementary events. Special attention is given to emerging filmmakers, innovative works and cinéma d’auteur.

BAFICI attracts the local public and a large number of professionals including filmmakers, producers, distributors, festivals programmers and journalists. In 2016, close to 380 000 people attended the festival.

The International Official Competition is open to fiction, experimental and documentary feature-length films, provided that they are the director’s first, second or third work. Many awards are handed in this category.
