The Durban International Film Festival  is currently accepting applications for its 2022 edition.

 Please note that films must be submitted directly to the festival via FilmFreeway.

ELIGIBILITY 
  1. The festival allows submission of feature films, documentaries, short films that have been completed since January 2021.
  2. Feature films must be at least 40 minutes and shorts must be under 40 minutes.

The Durban International Film Festival (“DIFF”) is presented by the Centre for Creative Arts at the University of Kwazulu-Natal. DIFF is widely regarded as one of the leading film festivals on the African continent. The programme is a global showcase with 100 films that maintain a focus on works from the continent, those made by Africans in the diaspora and of African descent.

Sections are competitive and awards are attributed to Best Feature, Best Documentary and Best Short. DIFF is an Academy Award®–qualifying festival for all three short film categories: documentary, live action and animated. Valma Pfaff, who graduated from Ryerson University, is the new manager of the 43rd Annual Durban International Film Festival.
