The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is currently accepting applications for its 2022 edition.

Please note that films must be submitted directly to the festival.

  • Competitive: Yes
  • Entry fees: the first five submissions by one submitter is free of charge
  • Attention! Each filmmaker may present only one work.

 

Eligibility  

Open to works of 35 minutes or less

International On-site Competition

  • must be an international festival premiere

International Online Competition

  • must be a German festival premiere

International Children’s and Youth Film Competition

  • no festival premiere is required

 

About

The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen has become one of the world’s most respected short film events. In 2021, it reached 2,600 visitors online with almost 60,000 viewings in 75 countries and around 1,000 accredited industry visitors. Over 190 works were screened in the competitions; in total, the 67th Festival presented 400 films in all programmes.

The 68th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen will present a total of seven on-site and online competitions. Two of them – the International and German Online Competitions – will take place exclusively on the Internet. Oberhausen awards nearly 49,000 euros in prizes across competitions. As of Summer 2021, this is a qualifying or nominating festival for the European Film Awards, the Short Film Oscar, and the British Academy Film Awards.
