ELIGIBILITY
- Features screened publicly in a theatre in the U.S. at one or more non-festival screenings before SXSW and/or has NOT been acquired and released via any public online distribution platform (streaming, VOD, SVOD, etc.) outside of a limited-time virtual festival event before SXSW;
- Open to works (features, shorts and episodic) completed in 2020, 2021 or early 2022.

Running concurrently with the SXSW Conference, Music and Comedy Festivals, attendees can take advantage of the opportunity to connect with a wide array of industry experts, making the Film Festival an unparalleled experience at the forefront of discovery, creativity, and innovation.
SXSW provides the game-changing buzz every filmmaker dreams about for the premiere of their feature film, short, episodic, or XR project.
SXSW is a qualifying festival for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Short Film competition. The Best Animated Short, Best Narrative Short and Best Documentary Short winners become eligible for the Academy Awards.
Telefilm Canada recognizes FEATURES and SHORT FILMS selection in this festival and may provide assistance through the International Festival Participation Program.
