(Co-Production Forum)

The Coproduction Forum When East Meets West is currently accepting applications for its 2022 edition. The upcoming edition of WEMW, taking place in Trieste (Italy) and online on January 24-28, 2022, will bring together over 600 film professionals from more than 50 countries, in particular from the 2022 East & West countries in focus: Russia & UK, Ireland, Canada and USA. The heart of the event will still be the WEMW Co-Production Forum dedicated to documentaries and feature films in development.

Thanks to the special focus on Canada, WEMW 2022 will bring to Trieste a delegation of Canadian producers and decision makers, and will also organize a series of other activities targeting Canadian projects & film professionals. In addition to the project forum, different opportunities are open to you:

This is IT | Fiction Work-in-Progress Session

Section dedicated to long feature, fiction films and hybrid works with a strong visual and artistic approach. Selected teams will have the chance to screen 8 minutes of their films in post-production (or at least partially shot) to an exclusive panel of international sales agents and festival programmers.

Deadline for submissions: November 30, 2021

First Cut Lab Trieste | Workshop for Films in Editing Phase

First Cut Lab Trieste is a consultancy programme designed for feature fiction films in editing phase. Selected teams screen their full rough cut project in a private, safe, and intimate session to receive feedback from three top industry advisers and a high-profile consultant editor. The main goal is to foster the artistic potential of selected rough cuts and increase the sales, festival and circulation potential of completed films.

Deadline for submissions: November 30, 2021

You can also apply to the WEMW Inspirational Labs, a series of mini-workshops to stimulate European and Canadian producers to differentiate their company business model and explore new possible formats and content production:

ANIMA SPIRIT | Animation Inspirational Lab

ANIMA SPIRIT is designed as an entrance door for producers and film companies coming from live action or documentary, wanting to discover the exciting and complex world of animated film production. The Lab is led by experts Jelena Popović (NFB, Canada) and Jean Francois Le Corre (Vivement Lundi!, France) and combines group work, individual consultancies, and lectures on financial and creative aspects of animation production.

Deadline for applications: December 15, 2021

COLD OPEN | Drama Series Inspirational Lab

COLD OPEN will select international producers, with a background in feature films, who aspire to shift to drama series content. The programme will include lectures, group sessions and individual consultations, aiming to supply hands-on skills of development, production planning and financing of serialized drama content.

Deadline for applications: December 15, 2021

IMPACT PYRAMID | Outreach & Impact Inspirational Lab

Danielle Turkov & Amy Shepherd from Think-Film will lead a guided co-creation workshop, in which selected fiction and documentary projects develop impact loglines, goals and key action steps. The main objective is to enhance participants’ understanding of the value of impact and what it can achieve for their productions and society and introduce them to a range of tools they can use to design and deliver policy impact.

Deadline for submissions: December 15, 2021
