ABOUT

Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days) is an independent sidebar held during the Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia, modeled on the prestigious ‘Directors’ Fortnight’ of the Cannes Festival and promoted by the associations of Italian film directors and authors (ANAC and 100autori).

The 12 films selected are world premieres and compete for two awards including a cash prize of €20,000, to be split equally between the filmmaker and the film’s international distributor, who agrees to use the sum received to promote the winning film internationally.

First films are also eligible for the « Luigi De Laurentiis Award Lion of the Future, » granting 100,000 USD.

Many Canadian films had their World Premieres at Venice Days: THE MAIDEN (2022), EMMA PETERS (2018), VILLENEUVE (2018), EARLY WINTER (2015), GERONTOPHILIA (2013), SIDDHARTH (2013), STORIES WE TELL (2012), CAFÉ DE FLORE (2011), INCENDIES (2010), C.R.A.Z.Y (2005), RÊVES DE POUSSIÈRE and CONTINENTAL, UN FILM SANS FUSIL (2007).
