ABOUT
The Marrakech International Film Festival aims at revealing new filmmakers from all over the world to the Moroccan audience. The Competition programs around 12 international first and second narrative features. The Jury awards several prizes including the Golden Star – Grand Prix, endowed with $50,000 USD to be shared equally between the director and the main producer of the film. To be considered for the Competition, a film needs to have at least an African premiere status. The festival programs several non-competitive sections, notably the 11th Continent and its challenging films, as well as a screening for young audiences.
In 2022, Riceboy Sleeps (A. Shim) was presented in competition, and Choi Seung-Yoon won the Best Actress award.
Telefilm Canada recognizes a selection of a feature film in this Festival for applications to its International Promotion Program.
