29th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF)

 (Feature films) 

Telefilm Canada is currently accepting entries on behalf of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. Telefilm Canada will organize a remote selection screenings session for the festival’s programmers. The films will be made available on a Montreal-based server for them to evaluate and screen in June and July.

The festival will only consider features with a World or International premieres status.

N.B. Please note that feature documentaries and short films must be submitted directly to the festival.

As per our agreement with the festival, entry fees are waived for narrative features submitted through Telefilm Canada.

ABOUT 

The San Sebastián International Film Festival is Spain’s leading film festival specializing in feature-length narrative films. Its primordial role is to showcase the year’s most disqToday, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival with its Industry @ Tallinn & Baltic Event and with the two sub-festivals, Just Film (Youth & Children oriented) and PÖFF Shorts, has grown into one of the biggest film festivals in Northern Europe and the busiest regional industry platform.

The festival showcases 255 features and 315 shorts from 73 countries to an audience of 88, 400 cinephiles. The festival and its Industry component host 1,687 accredited guests from 65 countries.

It programs a DOC Competition, and holds four competitive sections reserved to narrative feature films:

  • Official Competition: Brand new films by well-established filmmakers.
  • First Feature Competition: The first films of promising young talents, representing youthful vivacity, questing ideas and unexpected viewpoints.
  • Critic’s Pick: The newest currents in the art of film.
  • Rebels with Cause: Films with a more experimental format or carrying a more rebellious message.

Canadian features that were at the festival in the last three years: MONGRELS, RÊVE DE NÉON, THIS TOO SHALL PASS, BUNGALOW, UNTIL BRANCHES BEND, COCO FERME, COEUR DE SLUSH, ECHO À DELTA, and THE “G”.

Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of feature-length film to this festival for applications to its International Promotion Program.
