 about

The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam has developed into one of the most important documentary film festivals in the world. The festival welcomes some 295,000 visitors annually, including 3,300 industry professionals making it the world’s largest and most influential documentary film event.

IDFA selects approximately 250 titles every year in its six competitions, a wide range of non-competitive sections, and an expansive new media program.

Parallel to the festival is Docs for Sale, a marketplace where producers and sales agents offer creative documentaries to buyers, and the Forum, IDFA’s international co-financing and co-production market, one of Europe’s largest gathering of filmmakers, commissioning TV editors and independent producers specialized in documentary.

In 2021, three Canadian feature documentaries were selected by the festival: LA FIN DE WONDERLAND, THE GIG IS UP, and RESSOURCES.

Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature film or a short film in the festival for application to its International Promotion Program.
