ABOUT

Since its inception in 1954, the Sydney Film Festival (SFF), recognized by the Federation Internationale des Associations de Producteurs de Films (FIAPF), has increased in size and reputation to become a leading international film festival in Australia. The festival takes place each June at venues across Sydney. The SFF program celebrates the best of world cinema, screening features, documentaries, short films, retrospectives and a series of industry and public talks. In June 2022, just over 200 productions from over 60 countries were selected for the festival, attracting an audience of over 100,000.

In keeping with its mission and values, SFF recognizes the importance of equal opportunity and diversity in creating a healthy team environment and promotes a culture that is free from discrimination. SFF welcomes submissions from First Nation’s people, people who identify as having a disability and those who come from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The festival presents awards as follows:

Official Competition ($AUD60,000) for ‘cutting-edge, audacious and innovative’ feature films and the Sustainable Future Award ($AUD10,000).

Telefilm Canada recognizes the selection of a feature film in the Festival for applications to its International Promotion Program.
